La Femme had an extraordinary April with the inauguration of its two 2022 initiatives: Women on the Verge: The Gladys and Mary Dohmen Reading Series and A Woman's Storyland. On April 11, Women on the Verge – emerging artists Kyla Kantor and Carmen Berkeley – debuted the reading series with a presentation of Megan Mostyn-Brown's girl. Kyla deftly directed Carmen in a tour de force performance of the play's finale. La Femme was honored to showcase their talent along with that of the other excellent cast members.
Phanésia Pharel's Black Girl Joy brilliantly inaugurated A Woman's Storyland during a two week script development workshop that began April 4 and culminated in a presentation to an invited audience on April 17. Under the expert direction of Regina Taylor, the creative team and cast allowed Phanésia to develop and bring her play to the next level.
